Terms of Service — The Laundry Room | Kelowna BC
Legal

Terms of service.

Last updated: 7 May 2026 · Effective: 7 May 2026 · Governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.

Plain-language terms for using The Laundry Room — our self-service laundry, drop-off services, dry cleaning, pickup & delivery, commercial accounts, and our website. Using any of these means you agree to what's below. If something here doesn't work for you, please don't use the service. Questions? Talk to us.

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a contract between you and The Laundry Room, operated by 1397006 BC Ltd. ("The Laundry Room", "we", "us", "our"). By using our services or website, you agree to these Terms.

2. Who can use the service

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and able to enter into a binding contract. If you're using our services on behalf of a business, you represent that you have the authority to bind that business to these Terms.

3. What we provide

We operate a laundromat in Kelowna, BC, plus pickup/delivery service across Kelowna, West Kelowna, and Lake Country. Our services include:

  • Self-service coin-operated laundry
  • Wash & fold (laundry services)
  • Dry cleaning drop-off
  • Pickup & drop-off (residential, in partnership with F-Laundry)
  • Commercial laundry for hotels, restaurants, short-term rentals, salons, and clinics
  • Oversized & specialty items (duvets, horse blankets, pet bedding, technical gear)
  • Pressing and bachelor service drop-off

Hours, prices, service area, and turnaround times are listed on our website and may change without notice.

4. Placing an order

You can place an order in person at 2660 Pandosy Street, by phone, by text, by email, or by submitting one of the forms on this website. An order is confirmed only when we acknowledge it in writing or in person — quote forms by themselves don't create a binding order until accepted.

5. Pickup & delivery

  • Service area: Kelowna, West Kelowna, and Lake Country, BC. Pickup outside this area is available by arrangement.
  • Booking windows: we'll provide a two-hour pickup window. Be reachable during it.
  • Access: if you've authorized doorstep pickup or building access, you remain responsible for the items until we collect them. Please secure your bag.
  • Failed pickups: if we arrive in the booked window and can't access the items, a reasonable rebooking fee may apply.
  • Residential pickup: delivered in partnership with F-Laundry. F-Laundry handles the courier portion and is bound by similar standards. See the privacy policy for what data we share with them.

6. What we can and can't accept

We treat your laundry the way we'd want ours treated. To do that well, please do not include:

  • Anything dangerous, biohazardous, or contaminated (paint, chemicals, blood, mould, pest infestations).
  • Anything illegal.
  • Items of extraordinary value (heirloom textiles, designer pieces over $300 retail) without telling us up front so we can quote properly.
  • Cash, jewellery, electronics, or other valuables left in pockets.

Please empty pockets before drop-off or pickup. We're not responsible for items left in pockets that are lost or damaged in the wash.

Specialty items (horse blankets, oversized bedding, re-waterproofing, etc.) need to be flagged at intake so we can use the right machine and process. Surprise specialty items may delay turnaround or require requoting.

7. Pricing & payment

  • Self-service: coin/card pricing posted at the machines.
  • Wash & fold: by the pound; current rate posted at the counter and on the website.
  • Drop-off services: quoted at intake based on volume, item type, and turnaround.
  • Pickup fee: may apply outside the standard service area or below minimum order size.
  • Commercial accounts: see section 10.

Payment is due on completion unless we've agreed in writing to other terms (e.g., monthly invoicing for commercial accounts). We accept cash, debit, and major credit cards through Square. Late payments on invoiced accounts may incur a 1.5% / month interest charge (18% APR).

All prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude applicable taxes (GST/PST), which will be added where required by law.

8. Cancellations & rescheduling

  • Pickup bookings: reschedule or cancel free of charge with at least 2 hours' notice before the pickup window.
  • Same-day cancellations: we may charge a reasonable trip fee.
  • In-progress orders: once items are washed and folded, the order cannot be cancelled — payment is due.
  • Refunds: if we've made a mistake, contact us within 7 days and we'll re-do the work or refund the affected portion at our discretion.

9. Lost or damaged items

We take great care, and damage is rare. When it happens, we want to make it right. Please:

  • Inspect your items at pickup or within 24 hours of delivery.
  • Notify us in writing within 7 days of receiving your laundry. Claims after 7 days cannot be processed.
  • Keep the original receipt and the affected item(s).

Where we are responsible for loss or damage, our liability is limited to the lesser of: (a) the actual repair or replacement cost (depreciated for age and condition), or (b) ten (10) times the cleaning charge for the affected item, or (c) $200 CAD per item, unless you declared a higher value and accepted any quoted handling surcharge at intake.

Tell us in advance about high-value items. Without prior written notice and acceptance of any associated surcharge, the limits above apply.

10. Commercial accounts

Commercial accounts (hotels, restaurants, clinics, STR hosts, etc.) operate under a separate written service agreement that prevails over these Terms where there is a conflict. Without a separate agreement, the standard Terms apply, and the following defaults are in place:

  • Volume-tier pricing quoted in writing per account.
  • Net-30 invoicing on approved credit; otherwise payment-on-delivery.
  • Recurring routes scheduled by mutual agreement; minimum 30 days' notice to cancel a recurring contract unless otherwise agreed.

11. Website use

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes. You will not (a) attempt to gain unauthorized access, (b) interfere with the site's operation, (c) scrape or harvest content, or (d) use the site to send spam or harmful content. We may suspend access for violations.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Laundry Room is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, business opportunity, or data — even if we've been advised such damages might occur.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the services is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim, or $500 CAD, whichever is greater. Section 9 sets the specific cap for lost or damaged items.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under Canadian or BC law (such as gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or fraud).

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless The Laundry Room and its directors, officers, employees, and contractors from any claim or demand (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the services, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

14. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.

15. Intellectual property

"The Laundry Room", the wash-machine logo, and the website's design and copy are owned by 1397006 BC Ltd. You may not copy, reuse, or republish them without our written permission. The trademarks of our partners and service providers belong to those parties.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the services after a change means you accept the updated Terms. For commercial accounts, material changes will be communicated directly.

17. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in BC, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The courts located in Kelowna, British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the services, and you consent to that jurisdiction. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

Before filing a claim, you agree to first contact us in writing and give us 30 days to resolve the issue informally.
